Hoovering is dead ... long live the hoover!
The market has receeded over over the last 6 months, but is quite polarised in its effect.
If you have abottle hat is GBP400+ pre 'le crunch', the chnaces are that your bottle has retained its vale, if not increased (many examples ... see whiskyauction)
However, those wishing to make their way in the lesser expensive market have seen achievable prices drop in the last 6 months.

But I agree with you that the more recent bottlings aimed at the collector market (HP are the worst offenders, but also Springbank and various others come to mind) were never going to achieve high and sustained increases in prices.
There will still be the odd one or two, though, that do become treasured. The trouble is, by definition, they will be the ones that people least expect.
