Linkwood 12 year, a heavenly scent

Postby Timothy » Mon Jul 28, 2008 6:27 am

One of my all time favorite malts is Linkwood 12 year, the standard distillery bottling. I prefer it of all the Speyside malts.

I almost never read anything about this whisky and of course it is difficult to find.

It is the most fragrant, heavenly scent of any whisky I have ever tried. Women should use this as a perfume. It would catch my attention.

Any other Linkwood fans out there?

I picked up a G&M Linkwood 15 that was quite good.

I do love Linkwood, but the one G&M 15yo-version I've tasted is like boot scrapings compared to the OB - and even worse when compared to the OB CS (Flora & Fauna Cask Strength), heavenly.

Btw. heres a picture of another Norwegian Linkwood-fan (shot at the Spirit of Speyside Festival, and there's Linkwood in his glass):

I've tried to like Linkwood. Both a Hart Brothers and a Signatory were bright and lively upon first opening, but developed a sulfur note I just could not get past.

Never judge a distillery from an Independent Bottling, as they due (as a norm) not reflect the distillery's true style (as the owner sees it).

As it has been for a long time for many of us. None of the F&F-bottlings have had any real distribution outside the UK (and barely there).

Hopefully when Diageo get's the Roseisle plant up and running at full capacity it might free up some whisky to bottle as Single Malt. But this is 10-12 years into the future.
