Have you seen the 25 yo Highland Park advert in the new Whis

Postby adogranonthepitch » Wed May 14, 2003 8:53 pm

The end of the world is nigh!

Highland Park have changed the label on the 25yo to the stylee of the 12yo and 18yo. Yugh!

It just looks like the 12 yo £24.99 version, the numbers 1 and 2 replaced with the numbers 2 and 5.

This is a Justice of Travisty!

If I'm spending my hard earned cash on 25yo £130 bottle, both I and my guest need to know its the 'mutts nuts'

You dont buy a GTI Golf, just for it to ahve the letters CL on the back of it. If I pay £130 for the kiddie of Island malts, I want it to look £130, not £25!

ever yours

It looks quite dull. I bought mine April 2002 and haven't opened it. It looks too good. Image

BTW, the new design on HP's website is quite spiffy.

OOOHHH! Hark at you!

If you can actually afford the stuff at that price then good luck to you. Imagine quibbling about the packaging when the bottle contains Highland Park!

Dear, dear, dear.....

Well, well I thought the people on this site were here fore the love of whisky not the package. I buy my whisky because I love the taste of it not to get a hard on looking at the bottles in a glass cabinet. But hey that’s just me. I guess everyone is different....

I'm with that dogpitch person. Highland Park need their wrists slapped. The old packaging was one of the best in the whisky world, the new packaging one of the worst.

I love Highland Park, love it, but the new packaging has sickened me. Fancy taking one of the greatest whiskies in the world and dressing it up like a cheap tesco blend. Disgusting!

Come on Highland Park what was the reasoning for this abomination - other than to save a few pennies! I defy anyone to claim they prefer the new pishy labels and packaging to the old one!!!!!!!!!!

Angily yours

And yes I know this is all about whats inside the bottle that counts - but love affairs NEVER start on personality alone LOOKS are the all important.

I hope HP sales drop and they are forced to resume the wonderful packaging they had before!!!

Hi to you,

talking of the 12yo Highland Park I have also noticed a change not only in bottle shape and label but also a change in taste. For me it rather tastes like a blend, not a single malt. But that's all a matter of taste. I also loved the previous bottle shape more than the actual one.

Perhaps you can search an old empty bottle and fill the new stuff into it?!?

Rainer, who stays next week at HP on Orkney.

Dear BruceCrichton and everyone else

Thank you for your comments.

The label, the box, the colour all go to make a complete 'story' of a whisky.

The packaging goes up to complete that story.

As Argyll says, it looks like a supermarket whisky. In fact, the own make Aldi whisky (at £11 for a Highland Single) looks a load better.

Yes the final thing that must be noted is whats inside the bottle, but how many of you drink from mucky tea mugs or swig from the bottle........

....not many, so the label is just as important

Why not just buy 5 bottles of 12 yr old or 3 Bottles of 18 yr old?

All that counts for the packaging in my view is that it says Highland Park.

If you are able to afford the 25 yr old then you are doing well and you really don't have much to complain about.

Don't pay too much attention to packaging: it's the whisky inside that matters. It's like for CDs: some are horrible but I buy a CD (or a DVD) for the music.

BUT... yes, Highland Park's new packaging is awful.

I like the box and the whisky but yes, the labelling is a little below expectations.
