Yes that is a good price, I pay $64.71 here in Maine after tax. Some states as I remember have it listed quite higher though. But two...

I just purchased two bottles from them. Only $14 for shipping. Lagavulin for this price is steal for me! I hope it is everything its supposed to be

It really is. It's one of those bottles I always have on hand, so a lot of the time it gets passed over for the flavor of the month. But every time I go back to it I'm a little awed by how good it is.

I'm looking forward to finally getting it!
The Lag 16 is one of the malts that made a big difference for me. Big, in every sense of the term.
If for some reason one day I had to reduce my collection to a couple of bottles, it would be one I would always keep around.
Fasten your seatbelt, and let us know what you think.
Gov wrote:This stuff is very special!! Camp fires on the beach Smoke more smoke than peat by far, IMHO. Sherry sweetness, salty, dry and extremely flavorful. The finish is absolutely the best I have had! Between this and Ardbeg 10 would be a difficult choice if I had to pick one. I think Ardbeg is more peaty and oily. WOW !!
The first time I had it was like, what is this? Whisky? At first it reminded me of a specific homemade cough syrup (iodine maybe) I had when I was a kid, but only in much better. So rich. To me the balance is so complete between smoke, the sherry, the peat, the spices and vanilla. And the color -- beautiful. You almost want to skip dinner. A very satisfying malt, an inch worth lasts me about an hour, which tells me a lot
At least now I don't have to be sick to have one.
Yes, I know what you mean. Ardbeg and Laphroaig also last me a very long time too. Islay whiskies are definately best savored!
SoMK wrote:That would be a reason enough to cross the border for me.. It's $89 canadian here
The BC Liquor Board just bumped Lagavulin 16 up to $105.00! I can't express how frustrated and angry I feel when I walk into our government controlled liquor stores. So, I don't any more. I just buy it in the US and bring it back into Canada as I'm able to, or ship my scotch to my friends in Washington state and have them bring it into BC for me. Screw you BCLB!!!! (I'm not bitter, no not me!).
Oh ya - back to the OP: Lagavulin is definitely one of the top 3 or 4 distilleries IMHO. Their product range (if limited) is nothing short of perfection. Each bottle is awesome and an absolute joy to drink. I think a lot of people (myself included) became serious SMW aficionados with their first sip of Lagavulin...
Cheers and enjoy!
What a great country we live in!
JamesW wrote:I can get it here in MA for $ 59.99. I love this offering too! It's a bargain for such a great scotch. I also love the smoky and spicy Talisker 18 at $72. I haven't tried the Ardberg yet Gov. Also, I am Canadian living in the U.S. now and thank goodness I can get what I want at a good price. I hated the controlled liquor boards and their run-of-the-mill-no-better-than-a-corner-store selection.

James, Welcome to the forums!
As mikeymad said, that's a great deal on the Lagavulin 16. Enjoy it!!
