Lagavulin 1991 DM

Postby Mccandless1 » Sat Mar 01, 2008 4:51 pm

A friend of mine brought a bottle of this over on his last visit. As many of us know Laga 16 is one exellent dram, but with the addition of an extra maturation in Pedro Ximenez casks something special takes place.
For me this is one of the most perfectly balanced whisky's I have tasted. Not sure what feelings you have but if you can get to a shop (Got mine from Waitrose) and have £46 to spend I suggest you get running right away, I know you won't be dissapointed.

Are you talking about the Lagavulin 1991 Distillers Ed.? If so I agree with you, such a nicely balanced dram. Lagavulin is just good period IMO. I wish you could find more IB stuff around from Lagavulin. I haven't seen any at all.

I think this has been discussed before, but I am in full agreement. One of the finest whiskies I've ever tasted.

Yeah sorry I should have put it in full. It is indeed the Laga 1991 (Bottled 07') Distillers Edition. Sooooo nice I may have to have another one right now.

On the subject of Laga not doing many DI stuff, It seems to run true to form. They don't seem to market themselfs to mass appeal like others on the island (Bowmore being the cheif offender there). Instead (and rightfully so) they are held in high regard for some outstanding whisky, good for you laga :D

the 1990 Distiller's Edition is one of my top three favourites. If the 1991 is as good as the 1990 I am happy.
