Ardbeg 1975, how old?

Postby r0b » Mon Jan 13, 2003 12:59 am

I am considering buying a bottle of Ardbeg 1975 but I am a bit confused. At TWE there are three versions, 23, 25 and 26-year olds. I've read some raving reviews of Ardbeg 1975, but of these three which is the reviews referring to? Is the "Limited Edition" any of the three above?

Also, here in Sweden a 27-year-old Ardbeg has been made available. It's a Douglas Laing bottling, and the price-tag reads app. € 230. Anyone tried it?

You can check out the following Ardbeg's
in the Tasting Forum on this website:

1975
1976 Distillery Managers Choice
1977
25 Lord of the Isles
and Provenance - which Jim Murray describes as < the finest whisky I have ever tasted >.

Average scores for the 5 bottlings run at 9.2 -yes, that's right NINE POINT TWO!!!

Anyone will give you a really great dram

Cheers

Rudolph

I think all the 75's are limited editions and from what I have heard the one bottled in 1999 is the best!
