I just opened a bottle of LvpX 1990 vintage and was somewhat dissapointed!? From reading the multiple reviews off the web, I was expecting an explosion of rasiny sweetness (PX effect) following the characteristic LV 16YO smokiness I come to love over the years. It seems pretty watery and a bit weak - not what I expected. I first though it was a result of a freshly opened bottle but after 2 weeks of allowing the bottle to stabilize - I still find no change.
Any similar tasting results or do you think I purchased a bum bottle?
I recently got a Lagavulin 16yo that I found weak and water, no peat, very vegetal. I returned it and the replacement was exactly the same , so it was a bad batch. Perhaps yours is also part of a bad batch.
