I'm looking for a whisky called Doble V. It's made by Hiram Walker but it's not Canadian, apperently, it is/was? made in Spain.
The reason im looking for this whisky in particular is because it has the same name as the company I'm working for, I stumbled on a picture of it during a google search, my boss got a kick out of it and asked me to find some bottles. I made a special order request from the BC Liquor Branch, but they couldn't find a supplier.
We did however buy a mini bottle of it from eBay, that was kind of fun, but he really wants a decent sized bottle.
I'm looking for any info that you guys can give me on this product.
- Is it still in production?
- Is there any way I can buy some?
I've tried Google-ing it but there is very little info on it, then I found this forum and you guys all seem very smart so hopefully you can help me.
Thanks in advance.
Hiram Walker a subsidary of late Allied Domecq made the Doble V in Spain where they had a distillery at Cuenca till 1991. Via Allied there is/was ownership of Destilerias y Crianza where the made the DYC blend using Lochside malt distilled in Scotland.
That is all in the past now. The Doble V was successful in Spain and South America. If the new owner Pernod Ricard which devoured Allied Domecq two years ago still make it I can not say.
If you look for it try to contact someone at Pernod Ricard I would suggest.

What I read here would suggest that whisky is no longer made by Hiram Walker as in the lowest paragraph of this news there is no whisky mentioned under that company.
kallaskander: I've sent an email to Pernod Ricard regarding the product.
Scottie: If you could take a look while you're there that would be great, and if you manage to find a bottle or two and it's reasonably priced, I would reimburse you for them and throw in a little something for your troubles.
