Cragganmore distillers edition 1991

Postby Alewishus » Mon Jan 22, 2007 2:32 am

Saw this down at the liquor store today.
Regular $80 Canadian, marked down to $64.
Can't find any tasting notes - does this sound like a good deal?
Six bottles just sitting there...

Welcome to the forum Alewishus

I enjoy the standard 12yr old and the retail for that is close to $60 odd, so $64 for the '91 Dist. Ed. sounds like a good buy...

Hi Alewishus:

I recently laid to rest the last of a Cragganmore DE 1984 - it will be sadly missed... but I don't have any first hand experience with the 1991 bottling. At that price I'd suggest it's worth it.

Where are you finding it discounted? It still shows in the BC Liquor stores as being $91.51... ouch! Whereas it can be found in Alberta for ~$65 Cdn.

Hello Alewishus - welcome to the forums.

I have tried the Cragganmore DE and find it a nice dram - very drinkable.

I do not know if the price quoted is a bargain locally, but compared to the prices here in Denmark, it is not bad at all.

I've tried it. It's a great dessert dram. If you know any girls who want to take a walk on the wild side of spirits, this is a good one to share. You can find just about any fruit in there that you want (I found bananas which was interesting) along with the standard Cragganmore heathery/floweriness.

Thanks for all your replies.

It's being discounted in Manitoba, Canada.
The wife suggested I pick it up as a birthday gift for myself, but I wanted to see what the experts here thought, as I'm only a novice scotch drinker - took it up about a year ago.
My last two purchases were Coal Ila and Ardbeg 10.
This might be a nice change of pace (?)
Thanks again!

Rat Portage.
I don't really get out that way - I'm assuming it's near Kenora?
If I do manage I'll keep you in mind, thanks.
Still haven't had time to get to the L.C.
Guess tomorrow I'll go in and see if they still have a bottle for me.
