There really are two types of scotch (I wont even say SM) drinkers.
A. Scotch drinkers and
B. People that drink scotches
It does not take a very long discussion with an individual to find out which category they fall into.

IMO, the more formal SM drinker falls in to the "scotch drinker" classification.
After hearing how many people ask for everything else (be it a cola or to a much lessor degree, even water or ice) with their scotch, Id think they would be the "people who drink scotch" category..

I would have to rate myself as a 1.5, the reasons for this is because I feel I'm past the stage of curiosity. I really have a thirst for whiskey knowledge, I go on numerous sites and watch single malt tv as often as time permits. I wouldn't call myself a full grown 2 because I don't consider myself as a collector (although I have quite a few bottles) nor a connoisseur ( I think that you need not only experince in drinking but most importantly in years you've drank whiskey).
However, I must admit that I'm usually hesitant to offer my friends whiskey because I think it's just getting wasted on them because they generally don't care about what they drink. I've made the mistake of offering my friends good whiskey too many times and now I would like to say I'm wiser so I don't do it any more.
