From the Diageo pipeline

Postby kallaskander » Fri Mar 03, 2006 5:42 pm

Hi there,

Diageo has informed retailers on what new releases are planed this year.

The following list is interesting but I can not guanrantee for its completeness or accuracy.

Distillers Edition:

Caol Ila 1993
Lagavulin 1990
Talisker 1993
Cragganmore 1993
Dalwhinnie 1990
Oban 1992
Glenkinchie 1992
Clynelish 1991

Special Releases:

Port Ellen 27 years
Brora 30 years
Talisker 25 years
Talisker 30 years
Lagavulin 12 years 2006
Lagavulin 30 years
Cragganmore 17 years
Dalwhinnie 20 years
Caol Ila unpeated 8 years

As we can see the rumour about the extension of the Classic Malt range has been true, even if it does only show in the Distillers Edition yet. Clynelish and Caol Ila as DE will be a treat.
The older Special Releases mostly will be very high priced, I`m afraid.

Hi there,

unfortunately not. But I would say that a Caol Ila can, like the Lagavulin very well harmonise with Pedro Ximenz sherry. The Clynelish should go well with Oloroso or Port, I think.

Lagavulin 30, ooof. I wonder how much that'll sting the bank.
So, now we can have finally the chance to taste the unpeated Caol Ila
I thought the unpeated Caol Ila was for blending only.

Happily, not any more, it appears the Diageo ware house doors have opened a crack wider, much to our buying delight. I look forward to trying the unpeated Caol Ila and the Clynelish DE.

Does anyone know what Diageo intends to release in the States?

We've started getting the Talisker DE here, but I've heard rumors that Lagavulin's DE would soon make an appearance...

Anything else?

No word yet...the Talisker, Glenkinchie, Cragganmore, and Dalwhinnie are the only ones available in the States as of now. I'll be seeing some Diageo folks later this week and will see if there's anything new to report...
