Clontarf Irish Whiskey

Postby Virginia Gentleman » Fri Jan 06, 2006 5:32 am

Has anyone tried this? I would love to hear your thoughts. I see it is mellowed with Atlantic Irish Oak Charcoal like a Tennessee whiskey is.

I've only had the Reserve, which is the blended one. Nice and a little bit bourbony, with some banana on the nose. As Frodo says: "Good at its price point". Not the one you mean though (I think).

I have tried them all, and I didn't take to them. The single malt was the best. I know a good few people who like them a lot, though. I would say that it's not as good as a good bourbon or a good single malt.

That said, it's a long time since I've tried it.

Hi,

I've tried the single malt yesterday, and I think it's nice. Clean, Lowland-style. Good value for money. Citrus & Vanilla :)

I've also tried the black label. It's a single-grain. I didn't like it very much. Too spirity.

Well I finally gave Clontarf a try and I was really dissapointed. I won't be buying it again. When it comes to Irish whiskey I will stick to Redbreast or Power's.

i tried it at whiskey fest and felt is was average, nothing special but not bad either. it is nowhere near some of the better irishes like redbreast.
