Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon @ 50% alc./vol.

Postby Elliot » Tue Nov 15, 2005 3:19 am

For all of the Japanese residents and people from My Old Kentucky Home, have you tried the new Four Roses Single Barrel? I was at the Four Roses distillery and had a small sample. Has anyone else here tried it? I wondered if it is at its best now or whether I should wait until and older expression is released.

You might find this thread at http://www.straightbourbon.com, begun by WhiskyMag's Chuck Cowdery himself, interesting:

It is very silky and soft for a 100-proof bottling. A great value at $30-$35 US.

I tried this last year at WhiskyFest, and was disappointed when they didn't show up this year. If it were available in my area, I would certainly have a bottle on the shelf.

To be honest I'm not sure that you can ask too much more from a bourbon. It has a long silky sweetness that just totally fills your mouth. An extra aged version would just be an excuse for them to raise the price.
