Glendronach 12yo (older bottling)

Postby peergynt323 » Sat Aug 02, 2014 8:58 am

Color: Honey
Nose: Turkish delight, toffee and nuts, wood varnish, cologne, and a very masculine bouquet that resembles city streets at night (if that makes any sense); is that rancio in a scotch whisky? :o
Palate: Stone fruits, caramel, then a surprising rush of fruits, candies, and complex secondary flavors
Finish: Lots of evolution, good balance of power and finesse

Very nice indeed. I've now sampled three older entry level bottlings of the sherry trio (Aberlour, Glendronach and Macallan) and they were all amazing and different. Hard to choose between the three, but the lovely aged rancio character of the Glendronach stands out. All told, I love just about any bottling from this golden age.
