Islay Mist

Postby Jan » Fri Aug 12, 2005 8:35 pm

Has anyone tasted the RMW house blend - Islay Mist?

From their description it certainly sounds interesting:

Having tasted this blind at a staff tasting, we were all so impressed we decided to make this our 'House Blend'. Our opinion has been backed up by a panel of experts at a recent whisky tasting where it was awarded a silver medal

JMR's Smokey and Peaty One, won a gold medal and it's $15 cheeper per bottle at the LCBO. The Islay Mist does have an attractive metal container though.

At RMW the Islay Mist is actually the cheapest one;

Islay Mist: £12,99
Smokey Peaty One: £17,00

Oh well, both are inexpensive, I think I just have to buy them both :D

Islay Mist tastes of Laphroaig but without the stong nose.

One of the few blends that tastes like a malt and no home should be without it. 8)

RMW Islay Mist is a fantastic whisky for the price! They boys at RMW wouldn't put their name to a whisky if they didn't think it was of exceptional quality. They certainely know their stuff :D

I have now found an Islay Mist (NAS) and while I would'nt call it "exceptional", it is certainly a very nice little whisky for it's price.

It's very smokey and a nice everyday dram if you're into Islay whiskies.

Thanks for the advice

Before you make too many price comparisons with the JMR whiskies, check the bottle size. The bottlings I picked up were all 500ml, so first check that you are not comparing a 700ml price with a 500ml price.
