Glengoyne Golf Tournament ‘Drams Up’ Charity Funds

Postby AmandaWhaymand » Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:13 am

07 September 2012, Edinburgh: A new charity fundraising golf tournament has been hailed a great success after organisers, award-winning Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Whisky, helped raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Twenty four teams from across the UK took part in the Glengoyne Auld Enemy Diamond Jubilee Golf Day and Gala Dinner 2012 on Friday 24 August at The Fairmount St Andrews. The Scotland v England clash, replicating the auld enemy spirit, was held on the Torrance Course, and followed by a gala fundraising dinner.

The event, supported by Scottish rugby legend, Gavin Hastings, involved military and corporate personnel from across the UK, with TaylorMade Tour Experience Professionals on hand to advise players as they made their way through the course.

The team from the R&A, captained by Rhodri Price, Director Championship Operations, sneaked the win on the last hole grabbing glory from 2 SCOTS with a superb put. A silent auction, raffle and auction took place at the gala fundraising dinner that evening which was attended by guest of honour, the Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Margaret Dean.

Neil Boyd, Commercial Director at Ian Macleod Distillers, commented: ''Following the success of the Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Whisky inaugural 2012 Auld Enemy Dinner in February, we were delighted to be part of another fantastic fundraising event in support of Help for Heroes. These events have raised more than £20,000 for the charity.

"Although I am disappointed the Scots didn't win this year, we recognise and celebrate the passion that is synonymous with this great rivalry, and we will be back next year determined to claim the title".

"Glengoyne looks forward to a long association with the Auld Enemy Dinner and golf tournament in years to come."

Award-winning Glengoyne Highland Single Malt is one of the leading malt whiskies in the world and has been distilled at Glengoyne since 1833. I've been curious with this one for a while...

If there's only 300 of the ltd edition bottles I wonder why they have all not sold out since February do you think? :?
