Postby ChloeLeighton » Wed Jul 25, 2012 11:36 am

Whisky connoisseurs will sample drams costing more than £700 a bottle at Scotland's most exclusive tasting event, the organisers announced.

Stars of Whisky Luxe in Edinburgh on 7 September are scheduled to feature Fettercairn 40 Years Old (which can cost around £730 a bottle), a special selection of rare or limited editions of Jura bottlings (up to £500), and rare releases from distillers such as The Dalmore, The Macallan, Balblair, Ardmore, Laphroaig, Glen Grant, Glen Garioch, Glengoyne, Glen Moray, Bowmore and Auchentoshan.

Among other notable whiskies to be tasted are the winners of the 2012 World Whisky Awards. These include Scotch sub-category winners such as Glenmorangie Signet, Talisker 57 North, Lagavulin 16 Years Old and The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch as well as Suntory's Yamazaki 25 Years Old which won the Best Single Malt title and South Africa's Three Ships which won the Award for the World's Best Blended Whisky.

Only 350 tickets are available for the red carpet evening at the Scotch Whisky Experience near Edinburgh Castle. It will be the first time Whisky Luxe has been staged in Scotland. International whisky enthusiasts, collectors and passionate whisky drinkers will also be treated to matching food and entertainment over several floors.

"This will be one of the finest arrays of whiskies ever available for tasting at a single event in the home of Scotch whisky," said event manager Chloe Leighton. "It is the ultimate evening for those who appreciate life's luxuries and have a true passion for whisky."

Ambassadors from the world's finest brands, including Charlie MacLean who stars in the film "The Angels' Share" which centres on the malt whisky industry, will be on hand to give expert advice and guide guests through some of their most premium ranges.

Holders of three 'Golden Tickets' will also each win a bundle of exclusive prizes.
