Glenfiddich 15 Distillery Edition 51%

Postby bcrossan » Fri Dec 18, 2009 11:46 pm

Anyone tasted this yet? I am curious to hear some thoughts. The standard 15 is a nice one and I imagine at a higher ABV it is even better.

Excellent, by far the best of their range IMHO and if you like the standard 15 this one is (to me) the same whisky with more depth and body than their 'solera' expression. Head and shoulders above their GF12.

Testament to the argument that many more whiskies should be bottled at a higher strength than 40% ie 46%+. Also demontrates why GF is such an under-rated distillery.

The Solera's a star, no doubt!

It gets my "More-ish whisky of the year" award.

Would love to try the 51% though...

agreed - i like the solera reserve, but the distillery edition is just a 'thicker/fuller' whisky, really good bottle for under $50

Just purchased a bottle of this 102 proof whisky. I love all the Glenfiddich's that I have tried and I have no doubt this one will deliver quite nicely.

If anyone knows where to get this in Australia, I'd love to know

Is the one sold in the U.S. a 15 yo? I have purchased a few of these from the UK and they clearly say 15 yo on the bottle/tube, but the ones I have seen in the US don't expressly state an age. Any one know about this?

Interesting. I wonder why the labeling in the UK is far more conspicuous. Either way, a great expression.
