Lagavulin 1L 16yo White Horse

Postby johan brugge » Sat Nov 28, 2009 4:49 pm

This may sound like a stupid question but what is the difference between this one and the ordinary 16yo? Is this a special/limited edition? What price should I expect for this bottle?

The difference is price and taste. Its a bottling from the good old days and of course everything was better then. :smoke:

The experts here will tell you in which year it changed from White Horse to Port Ellen.

White Horse Lagas sell for two sometimes three times the amount of a "normal" 16yo.

Thanks Wolpertinger. I've received an e-mail from an online whisky shop that has this bottle for sale at 150 Euro (shipping costs not included). I'm not sure I'm going to buy it. I'm tempted to spend my 150 + Euro on something more reasonable than this.

Interesting what he wrote about the White Horse Lagavulin. I think I'll just stick with the 2009 version and spend my 150+ Euro on something else. Thanks again for the info Sean.

I've tasted the White Horse Laga and it didn't blow me away. Definitely not worth the asking-price of today.
Am still dreaming of the 12yo Laga bottled in the 80s

Ah yes, well that's an entirely different ball game. Have you seen one anywhere in the last 15 years? I haven't :(

Nick, If you mean a Lagavulin 12 yrs Cream Label White Horse, i've just reserved one as a christmas gift.

I reserved one in a shop in holland called de druiventuin. They have some very nice collectors items. They do cost a fortune i'm afraid

I've also ordered from that shop last month. That's where I bought my two bottles of Ardbeg 1993 Duncan Taylor. He has a huge range of rare and collectable whiskies. It's not cheap though. I can get some his Ardbeg's a lot cheaper from Good Whisky House in Italy, even with a stunning 25 Euro shipping costs included.

I've been there last week and they realy have stunning Lagavulin's and Ardbeg's :o It's a very nice shop, with professional staf and they also have lots of samples(for buying too!). From time to time they do N + T's.
Some Lag's were from € 585,= and up(> € 1000,= as well as some Ardbegs) 8)
