Bailie Nicol Jarvie?

Postby xpers » Tue Apr 14, 2009 3:14 pm

I have recently been enjoying my first Single Malts most notably Laphoraig 10 and The Dalmore 12, but now a friend has introduced me to Bailie Nicol Jarvie and I would have to say that this blend is currently now my favourite whisky (I love the Laphoraig but I couldn't drink it every day!).

Anyway amongst the esteemed and experienced whisky drinkers here I am interested to know what is the general opinion of Bailie Nicol Jarvie? I like it but I don't know much about it.

Looks good, but it is not possible to find in the states (except rarely). So all of the USAers would not know. Maybe this is good, it would be neat to try.

I have tried this whisky and like you, I think it is a good reasonable easy drinking blended whisky. I am a lover of Glen Moray so I am a little biased towards it as I know that it has the Glen Moray as one of its eight malts blended in to it

I've not had a huge range of blends but to me it's one of the best blends in the ultra cheap price bracket. I really loved it's crispness and balance and that it lacked the overpowering sweetness of many cheap blends. I find it quite complex but also satisfying which I can't say of many whiskies.
Mind you, there were a few people who really dislike it (see the worst/hated whiskies thread) so I guess it might be one of those love or hate whiskies.

I'm with most of the posters here, nice blend and a bargain to boot.

ps: I'm fond of BNJ too. But I don't think it's widely available outside UK.
