Talisker 18 in BC

Postby Peatlover » Thu Dec 11, 2008 6:12 am

I just logged on to the BCLDB web site to see which stores had Talisker (a friend had asked for advise on which whisky to buy another friend for a 50th birthday present :D )

There is NO Talisker 18 in BC. THey haven't pulled it off the web site, so it makes me think they may have just run out (....now ...at christmas...what were they thinking?!),

Anyone know?

I think you may be right on this. I can remember the same thing happening last January.

Hi there,

there are rumours that Talisker 18 and Caol Ila 18 yo are to vanish from the Diageo portfolio.

Speculations have it that it goes into Johnnie Walker Gold Label in the future.

Greetings

I looked at one of the locations, too far for me to go but a friend of mine works close to the store that has a few more in stock...better text him.

No way Im paying $170 for tally18

I know, it's crazy! Luckily I have a spare bottle. The problem is that it's so damn good - actually among the best whiskies I've ever tried so I think I'll buy one more.........eventually :?

Talisker 18 is still available in Sweden for approximately 45 GBP. However I noted from the store "Systembolaget" webpage that there are not so many left in stock for the time beeing.

I just bought a bottle yesterday, as it seems that there are only about two dozen left in all of Ontario. I'd have to say that this is the best whisky I've ever tasted.

Thanks for the info everyone. Glad to hear they are not planning on discontinuing it! Crazy if they did - it is sooooo good.

By the way, we pay $105 in BC.....if it does come back i bet they increase it to the $150 range.

The liquor borad was going to bring in Finlaggan at $65 per bottle. When it finally arrived, they jacked it up to $71 before it even hit the shelves. We get sooooo gouged by taxes in BC it isn't funny. Don't get me started on this topic, but whisky sells in Alberta for 20-50% less than in BC.
