Whisky Classics Reprinted
Blowing my own trumpet here and naked self interest, but I have been working with Neil Wilson to reprint rare and expensive classic whisky books and the web site has just gone live. All details at

rare Aeneas MacDonald edition for sale
Just to say that I have tracked down a copy of the very, very rare Henry & Longwell USA edition of Aeneas MacDonald's "WHISKY" from 1930 that I am selling on eBay - item # 190046222881 These are very hard to find.
I already have a copy, otherwise wild horses wouldn't persuade me to part with this one.

An update on the Classic Expressions reprint project.
We've done our sums again and we can, by reducing the edition size to 300, get away with an initial order of 75. As you have immediately realised, the reduced print run makes the books rarer and more collectable.
We're up in the 60s now, so this is going to happen. If you want to write your name in whisky history, now is the time to strike.
Check it out at http://www.classicexpressions.co.uk
Thanks.

Hi, Yes it has been frustrating and we appreciate the patience of the early supporters. Actually, we have one or two trade orders up our sleeve and, though the margin isn't as good on those (obviously, they need a profit) they should be enough to take us over the magic break point and get going.
Neil has recently been improving the spec slightly and we are thinking about the next project as well, so I am confident we'll see these two grand old books out in print again very soon.
And again, really, thank you everyone for the support. If you haven't ordered, get over to http://www.classicexpressions.co.uk to save £5 on the launch price AND write your name in whisky history.

latest update
Hi
Latest news is, that after some "issues" with the printer, we actually have the books and Neil expects to start shipping them from Monday 4 June (he drew the short straw).
Sorry about all the delay - it will be worth it in the end!
The 4 new titles are really nice (3 about whisky; 1 is a classic mountaineering book we were talked into doing - "because it's there", as they say).

You won't believe how thick I was .....
I was going to have the CD-Rom in the picture but misplaced it after 5 minutes of getting it delivered

A rather bad reflection on the state of my desk at the time

Anyway no panic I found it again later but post pic

Re: Whisky Classics Reprinted
Morning all,
Yes, there has been a sudden spurt of interest, especially in Truths about Whisky (some Irish book collectors seem to have found our site) which is great.
I'm sure we'll get over the magic 75 mark with these ones.
Slowest selling so far is Sir Walter Gilbey's Notes on Alcohol, which is a shame because it's actually very interesting. If you haven't ordered, take a look at this. No-one knows this little book, because it's so rare - maybe that's why orders are a little slow. It really would be a great addition to a whisky library.
We will do the Nettleton next - but in 2008 after we get the current 3 off the launch pad. I am discussing with a very eminent former Professor of Distilling and authority on malting etc to write the Introduction.
Check us out at http://www.classicexpressions.co.uk/Forthcoming.php
End of commercial (sorry, that should read "progress report and update").

We're crawling slowly towards the target!
Tell your Irish whiskey friends in particular what we're doing. Then we might eventually get this lovely little book printed.

Re: Whisky Classics Reprinted - Latest News
The latest news is that we have 65 firm orders for Truths About Whisky, so this is looking very good.
We have a few small quality improvements in mind and this book has 4 rather lovely fold-out illustrations which have to be mounted in the book by hand so it pushes the production costs up, to the extent that we really do need all 75 pre-orders. It will be printed and finished in either Poland or China, such is the global economy in which we now live.
If you can help us get over the finish line, you get a £5 discount AND your name printed in the front, so if you haven't ordered yet now might be a very good time! Or tell your friends, especially if they're interested in Irish whiskey.
Read all about it at http://www.classicexpressions.co.uk/truths.php
This is a very lovely and historically interesting book that would grace any library and inform any enthusiast.

I signed up for one of these, but I'm not sure which one. I am not very good at keeping records. Maybe it's The Truth About Whisky...
Re: Whisky Classics Reprinted
Thanks. I hope I've signed up for this one. It's like something I'd do... I have e-mailed them to see if I'm already on board.
