do you think Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix will be worth anything
do you think Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix will be worth anything
I just bought 2 bottles of Snow Phoenix, and was just wondering about peoples thoughts on whether i should drink them both, or save one bottle to collect. I know they are a limited bottling release from Glenfiddich, but they are very vauge as to how many bottles were actually made.

In my opinion you should save them both. It has all the hallmarks of a great collectible. You'll know in a decade if I was right.

60,000 bottles. The collectors out there will have hoards of these as initially no one had a clue there were so many, so they were bought by the case. Many supermarkets are still putting out stocks. I say drink one. Any appreciation will be slow.
The SP is put together from casks aged from 13 to 30 years old.

Can't see it.
From having vatted and bottled "a few" damaged casks, Glenfiddich seem to have mysteriously "found" a few more!
How many more will they find?

I bought a few of them, simply since I enjoyed very much. Maybe because was slightly different from the standard range.
Packing is unique for a Glenfiddich, price is good and it might eventually increase in value over time...

Sixty thousand is a lot of bottles, but I think a lot of them will be drunk at the price asked and the tout market will largely dry up after 5 years. Glenfiddich is a very popular distillery and it doesn't do a lot of collectibles, so I think demand for it will be very high. It has a story and excellent packaging and a lot of people(including me) like Glenfiddich. I bought one to collect.

And you'll probably be right Willie. But apart from the amount of bottles released(we did find a use for the naff tin), it's the whisky itself. A very good whisky from a solid distillery. But it's not outstanding, not special. I've never read anyone who thinks it is, but never read anyone who didn't like it either. Not always, but sometimes I even find it a bit spirity.
But I'm no marketing Guru so maybe this has nothing to do with collectability.

Heard it recently went for £720. As it cost about £60, I think we now have the answer to this question.

Well did you keep them HP 4 me or are they already sold and you are wishing you had hung onto them? (a polite question)
