Called in at the Glen Ord Distillery and picked up a bottle of Teaninich. Tried it for the first time at The Anderson, Fortrose, on Sunday and was very impressed.

I've been giving the rum some serious thought, same with the Springer (which is actually cheaper here than the old 100proof  ). I would much appreciate if you'd send me a PM when you've tried them, which with your record I recon will be just after work tommorow.

Your both close to the mark. Wasn't allowed to open them on the way back to Australia on the plane but opened them on the car ride home from the airport. First pour of the Ron Zacapa about 30 mins after walking in the door. :iwbrnt:

Will PM you tonight SC. Where I bought the 12 from it was the same price as the regular 10, go figure.

As the big "Hawaii" birthday is coming up I am starting to get some gifts.

A rather lovely Talisker 57 North was given to me. This has been on my radar for ages.

Last night I was gifted a Royal Salute blended whisky from the "Hundred Cask Selection" - Is this any good? I am a bit staggered by the values that I am seeing for this stuff, although it is in a rather beautiful Ceramic bottle.

Musky, do you really like batch 30 or are you also buying for other people?

Sean: I do like batch 30 but I was purchasing for others as well as myself. Turns out I've now got none left for me, so I'll have to go scrounge up another one on my next trip in!

High West Rendezvous Rye Whiskey... One of my best discoveries of this past year. Needless to say, the first bottle I purchased is now practically empty.

Glenfarclas 25 Year Old... For me, this one remains one of the best value, well aged Scotches around.

Just picked up a Jura Superstition for %55.00 at the local LCBO. Went downstairs to put it in the Lair and discovered I already have one, with the older designed box and bottle. Now what do I do with a double?

:D Like I don't know!

Pretty good price, MP. Was it on sale?

For me, the most recent acquisition has been Penderyn Madeira Finish, though this one was a gift and not a purchase.

Send it down this way. Toss a bottle of $35CAD Kilchoman in the box too :P

I believe Musky is hours away from those $35 bottles which are quickly running out this week. I hope he gets some if he wants, if he has a source or a transfer but I think vintage store transfers only happen after 2 weeks.

TTD: Nope regular Manitoba price. Sometimes they have better prices than Ontario, sometimes they are higher.

I'm trying to access 2 of them through a buddy. None in Manitoba, it's all in Ontario so far Just received my batch 28 today from the LCBO for $5.00 more than in Alberta. :headbang: Luckily it wasn't the 29, which I understand has a burnt rubber taste to it.

The problem with Kilchy at $35.00 is that it will appeal to the cheapsters as well as the collectors. Got to move fast!

I alerted a good friend in Toronto concerning the availability of Kilchoman (particularly given that I was mightily impressed by the cask strength 'new spirit' from the distillery I tried last year in Scotland), and am hoping he can nab a bottle for each of us.

Got 2 bottle of the Kilchoman summer release in the mail yesterday, nowhere near as good a price as you northerners but I'm happy none the same.

A Smokehead & a Spice King (from Weymyss.) The first I've enjoyed with a pal in Winterpeg, the second I'd not really taken notice of before. Basically, two vattings that have not been in the Whisky Lair before.

Picked them up in the Fort Frances LCBO which has a superior selection to that in our local shop.

Classic Islay Collection 2006 - a bargain given the Port Ellen 6th release that's in it. The PE itself is worth 75% of the cost of the collection, so the Caol Ila 12 and 18 and Laga 12 and 16 which make up the rest are basically had for a song.
