Making it easy

Postby Sally Toms » Mon Feb 20, 2006 4:28 pm

Help is at hand to make choosing whisky easier for the beginner in the shape of a new range of independent bottlings.

Wemyss Vintage Malts have been designed to eliminate the confusion felt by many consumers when faced with a wall of whisky.

William Wemyss, managing director, said: “We intend to bring malt whiskies to a new audience by using contemporary tasting descriptions to entice those unsure of the sometimes complex terminology (such as the names of the distilleries).”

Instead, the whiskies have names such as Dried Fruit Basket, Gala Melon or Waxed Jackets.

There are four in the range: Highland, Islay, Lowland and Speyside, specially selected to celebrate Scotland’s different regional styles.
