Burns night gifts for whisky lovers

Postby rebeccaparagraph » Tue Jan 19, 2016 11:08 am

An award-winning glassware firm has launched two products for whisky lovers – just in time for Burns Night.

Stirling-based Angels’ Share Glass has created a limited edition glass angel filled with Ae Fond Kiss, a Highland single malt whisky named after the famous Robert Burns’ ballad.

Just 50 of the unique handmade angels have been created in a collaboration with independent whisky company, DR Scotch Whisky, and artist Susan McGill.

They come complete with an oak barrel tealight stand and presentation box and each angel is holding a heart.

And in a secret process, known only to the firm’s glassmakers, the angels are filled with the `Angel’s Share’ of 15-year-old malt Ae Fond Kiss – a limited edition produced by DR Scotch Whisky with a hand-drawn bottle label designed by Ms McGill.

Karen Somerville, Angels’ Share Glass co-director, says: “Ae Fond Kiss is an exclusive whisky named after the well-known Burns’ song which was inspired by love letters written between the poet and his friend Agnes McLehose.

“We’re delighted to be involved in an enterprise with the whisky makers and to have the chance to fill our lovely angels with their fantastic malt.”

And as Burns Night approaches, what better way to celebrate the birth of the bard than with a comforting hot toddy.

The Angels’ Share Glass hot toddy set comprises a unique hot toddy mix, created by The Wee Kitchen Company in Stirling, a mini Glencairn glass and a glass stirring spoon which all sit on barrel stave wooden stand.

Whisky lovers just have to add a spoonful of the hot toddy jelly to a splash of their favourite whisky and some hot water.

The sets, which make a great Burns Night gift, cost £18 and are available from the company’s website at http://www.angelsshareglass.com
