Fifty year old in demand

Postby Sally Toms » Mon Nov 28, 2005 1:03 pm

The special 50 year old Glenfarclas released to celebrate the bicentenary of John Grant’s birth in 1805, has all but sold out.

The cask was personally selected by the Glenfarclas brand ambassador, George Grant, who is also the great, great, great grandson of John Grant.

The malt, which has a powerful sweet sherried aroma and long caramel taste and is still very drinkable, was distilled in September 1955 and was bottled exactly 50 years later.

Just 110 bottles have been produced, each one presented in a gift box with a commemorative certificate.

George Grant commented: “I am sure my forefather John Grant would be proud, not only of this exceptional dram, but of the fact that the great legacy he started, continues.”
