The coveted liquid was left to quietly sleep for nearly three decades until it was awoken after a chance meeting between Liam Hughes, CEO of The Glasgow Distillery Company and the original owners. During the summer of 2014, a plan was hatched to finally release this unique and special whisky.
“This is a wonderful addition to our business. This is the kind of product we aspire to produce from our own stills in the years to come and it sets a very high benchmark for our own distillers. Aged single malts are becoming more and more difficult to come by and we are very honoured to be entrusted with finally bringing this special single malt Scotch whisky to the marketplace” stated Mr Hughes.
The Glasgow Distillery Company will shortly commence making their own single malt whisky which is believed to be the first in over a century in Glasgow.
The Glasgow Distillery was inspired by its original namesake which was operational between 1770 and early 20th Century in Dundashill, Glasgow. During this time, the distillery became one of the largest licensed distilling facilities in Scotland with 12 stills producing both peated and unpeated single malts.
