Record breakers moving on

Postby Sally Toms » Mon Jun 06, 2005 12:50 pm

The world’s oldest and most expensive bottles of whisky are on the move.

The last bottles of the oldest single malt, The Glenfiddich Rare Collection 1937, are bound for the Far East.

Cask 843 yielded just 61 bottles and the final six have gone on sale in Hong Kong’s Chep Lap Kok airport, a major gateway for international travellers.

And Whyte and Mackay has announced the sale of the last bottle of The Dalmore 62 Year Old for a price exceeding £30,000, making it the world’s most expensive whisky.

The whisky was derived from rare spirits from 1868, 1878, 1926 and 1939, and was finally finished in Orloroso ‘Mathusalem’ sherry butts. The sale was made by The Whisky Exchange to a private collector.
