Ironweed will be ADCo’s second product, after Coal Yard Distillers’ Series New Make Whiskey, a white, unaged whiskey. As a young bourbon, the whiskey batches aged for Ironweed production have been in barrels at ADCo’s production facility from Sept. 1, 2012 to Dec. 1, 2012, a three-month aging process.
Ironweed comes in a 750ml bottle, complete with a Glencairn whiskey glass, and is available by pre-registration. Customers can reserve up to three bottles by e-mailing email@example.com with distribution starting on Dec. 8 at ADCo. The price per bottle is $44.
To be compliant with the Federal Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits, a bourbon for consumer consumption must be made from a grain mixture that is at least 51 percent corn, aged in new, charred-oak barrels, distilled to no more than 160 proof (or 80 percent alcohol by volume), entered into barrels for aging at no more than 125 proof (62.5 percent alcohol by volume), and bottled at 80 proof or more (40 percent by volume).
To launch the product, ADCo will be featured at “Bourbon Night at Orchard Creek” at Orchard Creek Golf Club (6700 Dunnsville Road, Altamont, NY 12009) on Friday, Dec. 7 starting at 7 p.m. The event will include Pre-sale tickets are available at $35 per person ($40 at the door).
