Dalmore happy with first ‘open’ summer

Postby Sally Toms » Wed Oct 20, 2004 11:13 am

Scotland’s most recent visitor centre reports that it has enjoyed a bumper summer in its first year of opening.

The Dalmore Visitor Centre opened in May, joining an ever-growing list of whisky distilleries which have opened their doors to the public.

The Whyte & Mackay showpiece distillery is located at Invergordon, on the banks of the Cromarty Firth. The full range of Dalmore malts is on display. A highlight is the chance to view – if not to sample – the Dalmore 62 year old, a single bottle of which sold for a record-breaking £25,887.50 at a Glasgow auction in December 2002.

Richard Paterson, Dalmore’s master blender remarked: “No visit to Scotland would be complete without a visit to this famous distillery.”

Dalmore distillery is nearer to Alness than Invergordon - walkable from Alness.
