From Tain to Tain

Postby Kate » Wed Feb 25, 2004 2:34 pm

Glenmorangie has released a very limited edition, super premium expression aimed at the connoisseurs’ market. And it brings together a link between two towns called Tain. Called Glenmorangie Tain L’Hermitage. the whisky was first racked in ex-bourbon casks in 1975 at Glenmorangie’s home in Tain, Scotland, and finished in Hermitage red wine casks from the world-renowned vineyard Maison Chapoutier at Tain in northern Rhone.
There are just 4,000 bottles and each is numbered and signed by the distillery manager, Graham Eunson.
Commenting on the whisky, he said: “This malt is
28 years old so it will be the oldest Glenmorangie on the market.
“The Glenmorangie character is clearly discernible and the extra years in wood have produced a wonderfully rich, fruity and full-bodied expression.
“The Hermitage casks add cherry, plum and deep cocoa flavours reminiscent of black forest gateau.”
