A recently published (1999) book which hasn't been given the attention it deserves (IMHO) is Gavin Smith's "Scotch Whisky". Maybe because the title doesn't give much away? Anyway, the book offers a wealth of old b&w photographs of distilleries, distillery equipment, distillery workmen, etc, etc.
If you're interested in the history of whisky in Scotland, this book is highly recommended!
