I just wanted to draw your attention to this new book of Marcel van Gils,
if you have not seen it yet:
The Legend of Laphroaig
I already have gone through it, marvellous.
It is a real compendium with pictures of all the bottles from his collection.
But also the part about the distillery and it's history is very good.
Who is interested in more details of Laphroaig, I can really recommend it.
PS: It is available at his homepage http://www.laphroaigcollector.com , at Laphroaig distillery as well as in some whisky shops.
jmrl wrote:I am really looking forward to this one and I am sure it is well worth the asking price which I believe is £30 but it must be said Ulf Buxrud's Excellent Rare Malts had the same price tag and could be bought for £18 via Amazon here in the UK. I wonder if this option will be available for 'Laphroaig'. As far as I can tell some publishers avoid the dilema of supplying cut price editions to Amazon. Whisky Yearbook and Misako Udo's book might be examples. I admire their stance but as a consumer with less money than principles (sometimes) I can't help but delay paying full price on release of a new edition in case I could save a few bob for other purchses. Any wisdom out there?
It has been released since a while and it is still not available at amazon. I read the book in a few days (review to be posted soon), and I can only say that it is an excellent book. The quality is superior to "Rare Malts" and if you don't see it on amazon within 2 months, buy it directly from your favorite whisky shop or directly from the authors.
