For Irish, the Powers 12 year old. It is now my favourate drink. Midleton Very Rare is also very good.
What is the deal with American whiskies and blends?
But generally; the best cheap blend is Teachers. The Johnnie Walker blends, which is the ultimate blends, is normally five - eight pounds more expensive than Teachers.
Teachers is a cheap everyday whisky. And it is a very, very good whisky.
Teachers is a criminally underestimated whisky. Every person with a bit of self-respect should have a bottle of Teachers in their house.
I totally agree with the Black Bottle it is blended from all the Islay Malts and has that extra something, try the 10 year old it is slightly nicer, another favourite is the Baillie Nicol Jarvie, it is approx 60% malt and 40% grain whisky same equivalent as a deluxe blend but retains the price of a standard blend.
