Anyone seen this Talisker gift set?

Postby jimidrammer » Wed Jun 14, 2006 2:53 am

My favorite liquor store called today to tell me he got in a new Talisker gift set of the 10yo, 18yo, & 25yo 200ml bottles in a gift box. I was skeptical at first because the only gift set I've heard of is the 10, 18 & Distillers Edition. Now I've talked directly to the distributor and he has one set aside for me to pick up in a few days. He can get a whole case for a great deal and I'm thinking if it IS the 25 the sets would be worth the price (< than $60U.S.) and the 10's and 18's are just extras. Plus I can open a 25 and not worry about a big bottle going stale and these sets could last awhile. So I'm thinking about the whole case of 8 sets. Has anyone seen this set anywhere? The 10, 18 & D.E. sells for $76US where I've seen it so this seems like a steal. I can get the full bottle of the 25 for $167US (I'm assuming it's the same bottling run), but I think this deal is better per ml. Any comments?

Not seen the one with the 25 yo but there has also been one with Talisker Double Matured + Talisker 10yo + Talisker 18yo. SO I would not be overly surprised with 25yo just expect to pay a little more. I got a HP pack with the 12, 18 & 25 which I found wonderful value.

Good luck with it.

If you do get them let me know I'd be interested in a couple if they are trully under $60 US. I doubt Ohio will be getting any.

That's a great price if it has the 25 in it. I paid $50 in Tulsa for the 10/18/DE set, and the prices there are usually a minimum 20% lower than prices here in Dallas - it's cheaper than any US based store website, even.

I'll be picking one up Saturday and see how many are available. Thanks, everyone.

Does anyone know if that gift set is available in the UK? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

I found the HP gift set (12, 18 and 25) at stockholm airport... but only available for people flying out of the EU... Fortunatly, a friend has gone to china recently and promised to pick it up for me on the way through

Well, my hopes got sunk today. I called my liquorist to confirm the Gift set and although it was listed in his order book as the 10, 18 & 25, the set he recieved was the 10, 18, DE. :x Still checking on the mix up, but i'm not holding out much hope, so I ordered the big bottle of the 25.

Just got a reply from the whisky exchange. They said the boxset of 10, 18 and 25 year old Talisker was a very limited run for staff only or as a corporate gift. So it shouldn't be available anywhere unless someone was selling it on :(

Damn.

My local shop has this in and I can confirm that the one available for sale includes the DE, not the 25 year old. :-(
