Whisky and Water ???

I heard about put a little bit water in you whisky. Is this true because i heard at 33% alcohol it taste good and 38% for example is to strong. What do you guys do ? Do you put water in your whisky ?

Well, honestly, I don't know about the percentage thing. I rather consider this to be a rumour.

Here's what I know for sure. Adding a hint of water to whisky can help the whisk(e)y to open up and unfold it flavours. Which is why I do it. But this depends also on the quality and the kind of the whisky. Some whisky's go with water and some don't, some open up with water and some go bland with water. It's a hard subject because people have different preferences and different tastes. My suggestion is: try it neat and try it with water to see what you prefer.

You can put water in whisky to water it down if the abv is too high for you. Or you can add a few drops to bring out the flavors.
