Hello,
A friend has just unearthedand presented me with a half full bottle of 15 year old Mortlach rare whisky - it must be over 25 years old as she's had it for many years. There's about 3 inches left in the bottle and there are whitish particles floating in it. It smells fine, but I'm a little unsure about drinking it. It's been stored in a cupboard under the stairs. Any thoughts?
Particles in Mortlach
Re: Particles in Mortlach
The whitish particles could be anything. Why not just sieve it? Would be a shame to let it go to waste!

Use a coffee filter. It's probably not harmful, being in whisky, but it wouldn't be the best experience.
The whisky, the bottle being open for so long, probably isn't in the best condition. Probably has oxidized quite a bit.
