New to this site i have had a bottle of The Macallan red ribbon series 1940/81 for some time and trying to find out more information about it if anyone knows how many were bottled and what value it maybe. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Cheers :D

I have looked on Google and found out about the value of the bottle and been in contact with Macallan it self and they don't have any figures on amount that were bottled. The highest number i can find is 467 on the Whisky auctioneer web site so i am still trying to find out more information about the bottle of Macallan red ribbon series cheers

You are correct with vastly price difference from £3000 to about £6250 at different auction sites and a asking price of £10000 at the whisky exchange reflecting what people are prepared to pay. I am hoping to find out production numbers by either in this forum or photos of bottles on different auction sites. I would like to think it will sell for about £6500 at the moment but i am not in a hurry to sell. I also had a bottle of the 1950/81 which was very nice. Thank you for your help kind regards John

as you don't have the box it will take off some of the value how much is anybodys guess say 10% to 20% that's my guess plus charges and maybe vat not sure about how much vat
thats if you sell at auction
any thoughts on how you are going to sell in the future

I still have the box not shown in the photo as the file was to big to upload. The box is in verg good condition just a bit of blackened nail head no staining on the wood it is always stored in a cupboard. Still considering what way to go with to sell it
