Cask strength-Scotch for Dad

Postby Scotchfordad » Fri Dec 19, 2014 4:29 pm

Hey people in the know, I'm looking for scotch suggestions (I am uncool and don't know all the whiskey terms so forgive me) currently I buy Glenfarclas, which he adores but I am always looking to blow his mind. Because I live in Canada I get hosed on liquor tax and a bottle costs just over a hundred bucks, so I'm not even sure if that's high end-it's a twice yearly gift so I'm willing to spend a bit more I just want it to be strong and nasty enough for him. He definitely prefers cask strength. He also likes green chartreuse and the scent of carbolic soap, I guess you lose taste/smell as you get older... :P

A bottle of the 12-year old cask strength Lagavulin would make for a nice change of pace... Sweet malt married to some lovely Islay peat-reeked seashore intensity.

Thanks, I will see if the liquor store can order that. Cheers!
