Help me buy my next bottle

Postby Mattamatikk » Wed Jun 11, 2014 4:04 am

Hi guys, new here!

Ive been deveoping a taste for whisky, ive tasted Glenfiddich 12 and 15, Higland Park 12 and Highland Park Einar, Ardbeg 10 year old,

I found the Glenfiddich 15 solera to be too sweet for my likings. I would like a whisky with the smokyness of ardbeg but with less sweetness. Any ideas?

i have about 60 pounds to spend on my next bottle.

Thanks

Hi. Thank you so much for your time Sir. I have decided to go for the Lagavulin 16!

Hello again.

I have now had my first dram of the Lagavulin 16, and i am enyoing it. It has the smoky peat caracter that i was after, and it was less sweet than the Ardbeg 10. I will buy this whisky again for sure.

Thank you so much for your recommendation. Cheers!

I'm sure you'll like Talisker as well.

When you can try and experience something from Springbank - not the peat you're looking for but excellent nevertheless. The Ardmore traditional is perfectly fine for the price and readily available.

You may wish to add Longrow to your short list of 'potentials'. An altogether different (and intriguing) smokiness from that of most Islay whiskies. The CV probably represents the best starting point exploration-wise.
