Whisky, Apéritif or Digestif?

Postby lionelttrain » Tue Nov 01, 2011 11:30 am

I notice that some writers refer to whisky as an aperitif or as a digestif. Since an aperitif is usually served before a meal to stimulate the appetite in contrast with digestifs, which are served at the end of a meal to aid digestion; what are the characteristics that distinguish one whisky from another in this regard and determine which are classified as aperitifs or as a digestifs? Has anyone compiled a list separating whisky into these two categories?
