Macphails 1938 45 year old

Postby Escott » Thu Jul 13, 2006 8:49 pm

I am bringing a bottle of this to the Dominican Republic and need a value to price out 1 oz shots of it. I have had the bottle for 15 years or so and have no idea what to charge.

Thanks,
Escott

Sorry, I can't help with that exact bottle, but the MacPhails 1947, 50y/o "Golden Wedding" bottle sold in December 2004 for €257, if that helps.

I am now trying google, but I guess you can do the same.

I found this one at just over €1600

G&M don't have any 1938 but have early 1940's McPhails for £700 ($1200)

I wrote to Macphails and they gave me a figure of 850 Sterling for a similar. What think you all?

Well that works out as circa £30.00 PER 25ML shot, £37 per 30ml/1 ounce or £42.50 per 35ml shot (retail) and I suppose you need to minium double it for the bar prices then. But at the end of the day you need to know if your customers are willing to pay for the privilage other wise there's no point. It's always nice to have a few special bottles at the same time though.

Yes sir, that is my exact lable. It is a fine lable. I also have a wood cask that it came packed in.

I have this on display and for sale in my restaurant now. The price is 6600 pesos for a one ounce shot. If no one buys any I will be happy to polish it off on my 60th birthday with good friends.

BTW:, Picked up my bottle in Scotland along with a Benrinnes 22 year old and a Glenrothes 29 year old for 200 US Dollars way back when.

Thanks

I wish I had the ability to get fine whiskeys here in the Dominican Republic! I don't.

Great bottle of the 50 yo! I want it:)
