I'm just checking to see if a collector can comment on what this bottle is worth?
I only took a quick look at the bottle so far, but I know it's 1949 and the label has a number written by hand on a preprinted label to say what bottle number it is.
Let me know and I'll post more when I take a closer look at it next time.
The only 1949 Knappogue I am aware of is a 36 year old that was bottled in 1985 and it is from the Tullamore distillery. The one I've seen is cask no. 8.
These were private bottlings by PB Andrews an Irish American, who was a former Ambassador to Ireland who bought and restored Knappogue Castle in Co. Clare, Ireland hence the name. May or may not have been imported to the US on his behalf by Austin, Nichols & Co. New York.
In terms of value, difficult to say in the current market as it would be mainly of interest to a very small group of Irish collectors, but i would estimate €800-€1,000 depending on finding a willing buyer or the right auction.
Love to see some pictures if you get the chance.
