Is this due to the new general release due later this year or has it become another Ardbeg cult dram .
I wonder how many of the 5000 are left .
I think that as time passes and with the release later this year people will want it even more (the 1st release) and prices will go higher.
It certainly is a great whisky, and I've heard that opinion from others here that are not as crazy about Ardbeg as myself.

This is what I've heard as well. Somewhere around September, but don't quote me on it as I don't have it from any official source.
Willie JJ wrote:Yes, it is going to be on general release, which makes high ebay prices look even more stupid.
Not wanting to open the usual can of worms, but general release only makes current Ebay prices look silly to drinkers. Collectors would see the impending general release as a reason to get hold of their limited release bottles to sit alongside the general bottles when they get them.
In relation to this expression collectors and fans are paying over the odds now in the blind knowledge that the next and subquent versions will not be of similar quality.
I personally feel the Ardbeg will slowly become a Bruichladdich with so many different expressions that it will eventually dilute the so called collector status of the Distillery.
Sell now while the going is goood

Looking forward to the general release so I can have a taste .
Well you won't be tasting the same whisky , It won't be like the Supernova which was the same batch of whisky , it will be made up differently.....
