Kyorke, Grants Family Reserve is a blend is not "bad" but not particularly interesting or memorable in my opinion. it is a blend devoid of peat and smoke and in its place is a spicy cinammon finish. Certainly not in the same league as Teachers.

I'll have to try Teacher's again. I went through a whole bottle of it and it failed to impress me until about the last glass, when I started to think, "This stuff's all right." I certainly didn't find it anywhere near as rich and flavourful as Johnnie Walker Black, Dewar's Special Reserve, or Whyte & Mackay The Thirteen, which are the best (and oldest) blends I have tried.

I've enjoyed Teacher's on many occasions, but if I had to spring for a somewhat more refined whisky at a slightly higher price point, I think I'd opt for a non-blend like Old Pulteney 12. Just a thought...

I am going to have to try OP 12 again. Last time I had it, I was not impressed, mind you i had several other drams before that at a private tasting.
