Macallan #2 Viscosity

Postby Jdiddy » Wed Oct 12, 2016 12:17 am

So I just picked up a bottle of the new number two. I was completely shocked at how thick it was. While it tasted great the viscosity was like that of maple syrup. Is this how it was supposed to come out? Could I have a bad bottle? In 20 years of drinking whisky it is quite possibly the thickest whisky or spirit I have ever tasted. Almost too thick to enjoy. Is this normal? At 48%??

It's interesting I just poured another sample and it seems a bit less thick. Could it have just been the first pour? Anyone else experienced this?

Curious - it must be chill-filtered which again must make it 'runnier'. Was it cold?

Nope, neat poured from bottle. So odd. They describe as viscous on the bottle but this was over the top.
