Hi there,
Johnnie Walker Swing
Johnnie Walker Swing was created for the 'golden age' of travel in the twenties and thirties when luxury liners carried high society passengers around the world. The Swing name derives from the rocking motion of the bottle, which swings to and fro on a convex base when gently pushed.
Swing has therefore been specially blended to reflect a perfect balance. It has a rich old gold colour and a nose of almost perfumed sweetness. It is smooth with a light freshness that covers a deeper fruitiness with some smoke and oak flavours. Unusually for a whisky it has no age statement.

Since the human eye is attracted to movement it was actually a brilliant idea when the whisky bottle was on ships crossing the atlantic, since it was moving with the sway of the ocean it stood out amongst all the other bottles and more often than not it was ordered from the vast selection available.

Johnnie Walker Swing
I just finished a review of Swing on my website. The funny thing is that my parents had an unopened bottle of Swing hanging around their house for about 15 years. Somehow they finally decided to open it, and send me home with the bottle.
Johnnie Walker Swing
The quick tasting notes are as follows:
Sweet on the nose with sherry and fruit with a little smoke. On the tongue it starts off sweet and then the spicy notes hit about mid palate and then the smoke and peat come out. It has a smooth lingering smoke and spice finish. The one aspect that is very noticeable is that this is an exceptionally smooth scotch. There is no bite or raw alcohol heat.

I just picked up two bottles of JW Swing from the duty free store at San Juan Airport. It was 2 for $80 and I regret not buy more.

I wasn't impressed with my bottle of Swing...I liked the Dimple Pinch a bit better, and it was much cheaper too.

There are very few on-line reviews of Swing.
I appreciate the detail here! Thanks, folks!

I agree 100% with what dsoneil said. I like it a lot.
And I'll add that my bottle oxidized very quickly when close to empty.

Re: Johnnie Walker Swing

Johnnie Walker Swing was the first $45+ dollar a bottle Scotch I ever purchased. I have seen some good reviews out there for it and when I saw it in our local liquor store and for only $40 a bottle, I picked it up.
That night my wife and I cracked open the bottle and I was the first to taste it. What a great first taste. Talk about a smooth sip. I loved the complex aromas and really liked that it did not have a bite or harsh taste to it. The has a quick ending, but the smoke, almost a fatty maple bacon taste lingered in the back of my mouth.
First words out of my mouth, OH WOW! And I told my wife to have a sip. Both of us fell in love with it.
Now an added bonus is that we think we got lucky. I checked the box and saw that ours was dated 1991. Swing is blended with at least 12/15 year old scotchs. Ralfy at Ralfy.com thinks that there are even older blends mixed it.
So minus the 12 from 1991 and you get 1979. 1976 if you go with 15 yr old scotch.
I have checked on the net and it seems that we got very lucky. For roughly $40 a bottle, we got got a 30 yr old scotch. Yea being in the bottle does not count, but for some what new collectors, we thought it was pretty cool.
If you can find a bottle, get it. You will not be disappointed, we sure were not.

Re: Johnnie Walker Swing
There are so many things unique about the Johnnie Walker Swing Blended Whisky, it’s difficult to begin. First off is the unique bottle, that actually ‘swings’ back and forth due to an irregular base, secondly, launched in 1932, this was the last blend from Alexander Walker, grandson of John Walker. Finally, this is one of the few products that features the iconic walking man logo in his original pose, walking from right to left. It has a nose of flowers, sherry and malt and a palate of sweet toast, honey, sherry and vanilla that ends in a medium length but rich and fruity finish.
