Port Charlotte - An Turas Mor

Postby Drammed » Thu Mar 03, 2011 4:51 pm

Has anybody tried this yet? It looks like from the description that Port Charlotte is old enough to warrant a larger release and I am curious to see if anyone has tried the final product.

Also tested it recently. I found it to be a nice dram with a very subtle, dry and clean taste of peat before anything else. I think it has a little smokiness, a light almost licourice sweetness to it and some pepper. Add a little water and you´ll light up the fire with a more complex taste that includes vanilla, a little citrus and a more sharp peppertaste.

This whisky doesn't need water at all. In fact, I thought the abv was a bit too low and the spirit would have gained a lot by being bottled at a higher strength. Just guessing, of course. Still a very good whisky, but I do prefer my own private pc cask bottling (9 yrs at cask strength).
