Ledaig. Connoisseurs choice 1990. 43%

Postby whiskynig » Fri Jan 30, 2009 12:12 am

I have just opened this in order to sample for a tasting tomorrow.
I am troubled by Ledaig standard bottling, cannot make my mind up whether or not I like it.
This, however, is a stunner.
The longer I leave it the more interesting it gets.
Full of floral notes, not a trace of peat until much later on, and very warming.
It is only supposed to have a short finish, so why is it taking so long.......
I must find something else to sell and keep all of these!

Water added only took something away from it.
So I am pleased to say, neat again for me!!

Is that the one bottled in 2006 or is it the newer one? We have the 2006 here in NZ which looks like great value for money.

This is the one bottled in 2006.
How much is it retailing for in NZ? It is around £29 here.

If you buy one, I would be interested to know what you think.
For the record we sold out, they all seemed to agree with me!
So there is more on the way for the stockroom. :smoke:

i just bought a bottle of this, really stunning. i had bought a standard 10 yo previously, and i wasn't impressed, but my local had only one bottle left (they have a great selection, and typically any bottle that is almost out is a good one) and i had to get it. it was this or the Glenfiddich distillery edition, which i still plan to get, but the Ledaig is really nice.
